Mochitsuki Experiences offers an immersive cultural experience in Yokohama, Japan, centered around the traditional Japanese practice of making mochi, a beloved rice cake delicacy. Participants engage in the centuries-old art of mochi-making, learning about its significance in Japanese culture and festivals, and experiencing the entire process from pounding glutinous rice to shaping and filling the mochi. Mochitsuki Experiences is held at a serene temple near Nishi Yokohama Station, just a 7-minute walk from the South exit. It’s also accessible from Tobe Station, around 15 minutes on foot. The peaceful surroundings provide a perfect backdrop for this traditional cultural experience.
In addition to our Mochitsuki Experience, we also offer a Dango-making session. For ¥6,000 per person, participants will enjoy an 80-minute hands-on workshop where they can learn how to make this traditional Japanese sweet. The session is perfect for groups of 2 to 8 participants.
We offer a variety of mochi flavors to suit different tastes. The following flavors are included for free: soy sauce and sugar, kinako (roasted soybean flour), seaweed, and black sesame. For an additional fee, you can enjoy matcha, grated Chinese radish, anko (red bean paste), and mitarashi (sweet soy glaze).
Yes, customers must agree to confirm they understand the guidelines, especially for health and safety. For example, they need to follow the instructor’s advice on properly chewing mochi to avoid choking hazards.
